The trail system in Holmen will take you through an urban setting one minute and then you turn a corner and will find yourself entering woods and fields the next. Corridor 26 skirts along the north end of Holmen with a short side trail that takes you up to the top of Star Hill that gives you a view of Holmen and the rivers below. Corridor 26 meets up with the Great River Trail/corridor 29 near Midway/Lytle’s Landing and runs east to Stevenstown where the trail meets the trail to Mindoro. Ccorridor 26 at this point runs north along the Black river flood plain into North Bend and the Jackson county trails.
The Great River bike trail is also corridor 29 and comes in from Trempealeau to the north and runs along the Mississippi river to Onalaska. Riding the trail to Trempealeau will have you crossing bridges as you take in the flood plain that surrounds you.
