A message sent out by the AWSC and Madison area snowmobile clubs concerning Blue Mounds State Park Master Plan:

Fellow Snowmobilers:

If you recall, the Natural Resources Board unanimously approved the Blue Mounds State Park Master Plan Amendment that included the final compromise to re-open the snowmobile trail within the park at their January, 2016 meeting. Due to a legal discrepancy, the Natural Resources Board may be re-voting on that Master Plan Amendment at their January 25th, 2017 meeting.

The NR Board will be accepting comments on that re-vote until 11 AM on January 13th. Comments can be made to Laurie Ross’ address and email address listed below:

Laurie J. Ross, Board Liaison

Office of the Secretary

P.O. Box 7921

Madison, WI 53707-7921

Please note that we are commenting on the January 25th Agenda Item 9B: We are asking the Natural Resources board to approve the Blue Mounds State Park Master Plan Amendment including the snowmobile trail as they had done so unanimously at their January, 2016 meeting.

Remember… this effort is in addition to our iPetition of support (which will also be presented to the NR Board).  However, it is also critical that we also get as many comments as we can get in to Laurie’s office before the 13th as possible!

Thanks to all!

Closed Trails

Due to weather conditions La Crosse county trails have closed as of 6 am on Wed Dec. 21st.

Open Trails

Most trails in La Crosse County will open at 10 A.M. today.

Important Trail Information:

The Bluebird trail from Fox Hollow Golf Course to Charlies Inn will remain closed until further notice. Please watch for trail improvements through the Onalaska area and follow the marked trail. Please ride with caution throughout the county. Some areas have been groomed and some have not. Also watch for club members doing bridge repairs on Corridor 29 South of Newburgs Corners.

We have our first substantial snow fall of the new season. We may start running some groomers in limited areas very snow to begin packing the light and fluffy snow we have received. Many areas are not yet ready to open, due to cattle in fields and pastures, signs not yet all up, wet areas not yet frozen and other possible issues. All trails will remain closed until further notice. Just because you see the groomer running does not mean the trails are open. Some club members may be out on their snowmobiles checking trails or opening gates and fences, do not assume they are open! Please stay off so we do not lose the privilege of riding on our very gracious landowners properties!

Closed Trails

Good afternoon,
Just want to remind everyone that even though we have snow that we cannot open the trails yet for various reasons. We may have the groomers out to try to pack the trail but there are areas that still need to be signed (Feel free to contact clubs to help out) and there are areas that need to freeze up yet. The coming cold air will help firm things up so please be patient.
